IEC Merit Shop Study
Economic Impact of Merit Shop Electrical Contractors
Introduction
The economic impact of the merit shop electrical contractor is largely misunderstood mainly because it has gone unmeasured. IEC has long believed that the merit shop, open shop, or just non-union electrical contractors have an overwhelming influence in the built environment and are a key economic engine across the entire commercial, industrial, and residential construction sector. A majority of jobs and businesses are considered merit shop, and most construction work is done by merit shop contractors and workers.

End the Wait Foundation
The IEC Foundation is proud to partner with the End the Wait Foundation to raise awareness about living kidney donation through the power of storytelling and film.
Today, more than 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for a kidney transplant, and 1 in 10 people worldwide is affected by chronic kidney disease. Through increased awareness and donor connections inspired by End the Wait’s mission, eight individuals have already received life-saving kidney transplants.
To continue this life-changing momentum, End the Wait is producing a feature film based on a powerful true story of kidney donation—designed to educate communities, inspire action, and ultimately save lives.
We invite you to consider making a donation to support this important work and help expand awareness efforts nationwide: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/dd67967b-57c8-4d9c-be5a-89159f9cd506
